3 Gridplayer package types=3 failed Gridplayer instances #214

Hey there! I came across a comment you posted to superuser.com that I was elated to discover, as I'd been ripping my hair out trying to accomplish this via CLI, VLC, etc.

Sadly, as alluded to in the title, I installed all 3 of the package types for Gridplayer which were readily available (Flatpak, App Image and AUR Snap package) and none work. I saw where you'd recommended Flatpak so that was what I attempted first. I also saw your comment Re: chmod +x'ing the App Image. Still no joy.

I understand Gridplayer is making use of VLC behind the scenes or with some "special sauce" on top, so it may be relevant to point out that the same files play without issue using VLC and every other video player (standard mp4 files). Initially, it looks like everything is underway and simply processing but this never gives way to actual playback and eventually every/any such subprocesses error/time-out ("Timed out setting initial state").

Is there some default setting that could be to blame for this failure to launch? I poked around some, but presumably owing to the fact that it's based on VLC, there is no shortage of configuration options.

Or perhaps Wayland is causing problems and/or Gridplayer prefers X?

Thanks for any insight you're (or anyone is) able to provide!
