couldn't install plugin in latest eclipse on Xubuntu 11.10 #18

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. click help->install new Software on Eclipse Version: 3.7.0
Build id: I20110613-1736 (Indigo)
2. add new location 
url:http://adt-addons.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/installer/com.android.ide.eclipse
.installer.update/
3. check "Android-SDK" -> click next 

What is the expected output? 
expected to accept licence

What do you see instead?
Error Message:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be 
found.
  Software being installed: Android SDK Installer 0.9.5.201012121703 (com.android.ide.eclipse.installer.feature.feature.group 0.9.5.201012121703)
  Missing requirement: Android SDK Installer 0.9.5.201012121703 (com.android.ide.eclipse.installer.feature.feature.group 0.9.5.201012121703) requires 'org.eclipse.gef.all.feature.group 0.0.0' but it could not be found

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Eclipse Version: 3.7.0
Build id: I20110613-1736 (Indigo)
latest adt-addons

I had the same problem.  It is a permissions issue.
Starting eclipse as root fixes this.

I had installed it in /opt/eclipse, so for me what worked is from a terminal:
sudo su
opt/eclipse/eclipse

then install as normal.

Being a bit concerned about running as root, I swapped back to a normal user 
for remaining steps (SDK manager install)

Ok, I Installed it as root and I can install the SDK installer. After that I 
installed the SourcePlugin. Unfortunately it don't work. I had the SDK 
installed already before, so can it be the case that I MUST install the SDK 
through ADT-Plugins-SDK-installer and not simply download it from Google?

Sam problem on Mac , but I don’t want to install as ROOT , it sounds like bug 
to do it this way.
