In https://w3c-ccg.github.io/did-spec/#did-documents, it states...

The combination of a DID and its associated DID Document forms the root record for a decentralized identifier.

Of course, we're running into the same issue of: What is a DID? ...and what is a "decentralized identifier"?

  1. First I'm assuming that

    1. "decentralized identifier" is just a more general (English) term for a DID, and
    2. a DID is the "id (DID)" attribute of a DID Document, and
    3. a DID Document is the JSON-LD serialization of a DID Entity.

...in which case, the second sentence doesn't appear to make any sense.

  1. Misuse of "DID" ...see https://github.com/w3c-ccg/did-spec/issues/121#issuecomment-455267182
