While ed25519 is listed as a "safe curve" the key strength is below 256 bits of elliptical curve cryptography. Published in 2006 it is well regarded as safe within certain contexts with the main requirement being speed. I would also like to consider Ed448-Goldilocks by Hamburg in 2014 especially for semi-permanent data like identity declaration.

Please remember that quantum computing is inevitable, and the initial resistance will purely be key size. The core hardware (not cooling or read/write mechanics) required is a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance machine. Selecting the option of stronger key sizes SHOULD be strongly considered in my opinion.
