besides signage, seats and tables, are there any other amenities to provide?
I think really just a quiet space, where signage makes it clear it's not a chat room.
We could potentially provide some activities or sensory tools, like fidgets, to help people who need the room. I can look into some options.

These quiet spaces are increasingly common at conferences, and (as best I can tell) they're mostly places where it's possible to experience calm and tranquility. To your question @plehegar, I'd suggest some refreshments - a water cooler and some fruit perhaps.
Having cold items — like a refrigerator / freezer — to help with grounding is useful. I used my hotel room at TPAC 2022 to retreat and ran cold water over my wrists, etc.
Consensus from PWE: Rooms should be quiet with signs indicating "no chatting" (like a quiet car on a train). Food or drink might be a concern for covid reasons. @plehegar
Sorry on my late reply on this, but make sure that this this is not an oversight. I'll make sure we have such a space for TPAC 2023. As we have outside space at the TPAC 2023 venue, I thought we could use an outside space as we have several possibilities at the TPAC 2023 venue, but I doubt there will be silent enough and people may prefer to be in a cool place to decompress. And we should also have a space where light is dimmed. I'll see with the hotel what is feasible to do. I'm not sure about providing sensory tools for covid reasons, or we should make sure people desinfect them. People could also be advised to bring their headsets or their own material.
after TPAC 2022 we received a request to create sensory spaces/rooms at TPAC. This would be a quiet space to unwind and decompress. This might be useful or required by people who are neurodivergent or people who just need a break.
