In my case, it looks like the error may occur much more often when I submit by file upload using Chrome, and hardly ever when I submit by file upload using Firefox.
I was wondering if you are aware the problem has recurred, and whether you had looked at browser-specific sources of the problem.
As a non-member, I'm not sure if this is the best forum to raise the issue, but short of joining the www-validator@w3.org list, I couldn't figure out any other way of providing feedback. Please let me know if there's a more appropriate way for me to communicate such issues.

I've just started intermittently receiving the end of document in prolog error described in the archived list message
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-validator/2010May/0046.html ...and as Bug 6151 http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=6151 with the status of RESOLVED FIXED.
