The Bikeshed build tool offers additional features for text that it can recognize to be steps of an algorithm:

improved rendering (i.e. dedicated visual style for sub-steps and interactive variable references)
automatic detection of unused variables at build time

Annotate the proposal's algorithms to opt in to these features.
