[mediaqueries] display mode media feature #6343

Closed frivoal closed 2 years ago

In https://github.com/w3c/manifest/issues/975, @marcoscaceres said:

While the CSS crew is here, somewhat unrelated, but related, could we move "display mode media feature" to MQ5?

The current spec is over here: https://www.w3.org/TR/appmanifest/#the-display-mode-media-feature Support according to MDN: Screen Shot 2021-06-03 at 13 39 24

I'd say that we should indeed merge it into the main MQ spec.

The CSS Working Group just discussed [mediaqueries] display mode media feature, and agreed to the following:

The full IRC log of that discussion <dael> Topic: [mediaqueries] display mode media feature
<dael> github: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6343
<dael> florian: Media feature in a non MQ spec. Should it move?
<dael> florian: Currently in [missed] spec. Let's you tell if app is in full screen or normal context or if it has minimal UI
<dael> florian: That exists. I think shipped in everything. I think we should adopt it
<Rossen_> q?
<Rossen_> ack smfr
<dael> TabAtkins: Since it's been shipped it's stable. Happy to pull in. Should at least mention, but I think we can pull in
<TabAtkins> s/[missed]/App Manifest/
<dael> Rossen_: florian have you been engaged to make sure this is their intent?
<dael> florian: Request is coming from them
<dael> Rossen_: Objections to adopt this as a part of MQ
<dael> RESOLVED: adopt this as a part of MQ

Publication has happened (since we're no worse off than we were before the transfer), so closing. Will follow up in the other issue.
