[iso-part3-#91] EPUB versioning strategy #408

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Issue:

This Section probably belongs in the Overview rather than here, as it appears
to apply to all Parts and not just to Part 3.

Referenced Section:

https://epub-revision.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/build/301/spec/epub30-contentdocs
.html#sec-overview-versioning

ISO Suggested Solution:

Either move this Section to Part 1 Overview or make it clear that it is
specific to this Part.

Chairs/Editors initial proposed solution for WG review:

This section is specific to Content Documents, as it deals specifically with
the unstable W3C references. There is no need to detail broader EPUB 3
versioning in this section, so recommendation is to modify the section as
follows to be more specific to this specification:

1.2.4 Future Maintenance

This specification references W3C specifications that are not yet final, and
incompatible changes to them may occur in the future that would cause EPUB 3
Content Documents that were previously conformant to no longer be conformant to
the latest versions of the referenced specifications.

The IDPF anticipates revising this specification if and when such incompatible
changes occur, updating the normative constraints defined herein as necessary.
