Disparities in font size #25

Open r12a opened 5 years ago

This is an issue originally raised by Nasun-urt and Huqitu in the mlreq draft. Moving the issue here for discussion and elaboration before contacting the CSS WG.

In mixed arrangement with other languages, Mongolian text is X larger than the other texts. Designating the option requires that the size of Mongolian in all control texts should be automatically X larger than the size of the text of other scripts or X smaller under the condition of using minus.

Is it possible to achieve the goal here by setting the font size for the respective language texts to different sizes using CSS font-size ?

Related to the issue with controls and font-family presumably. If you have text in mixed script, then how do you set the language setting on an input field?

This is a general issue: some scripts need to use an adjusted point size to display well with (e.g. ASCII). If all text is in the same point size the result will not be satisfactory.

The question here relates to "control texts", which I assume includes input fields - for those it is unclear how you apply language-based settings - esp if the language of the data input can't be predicted.
