Natural Language interfaces and alternatives: Scope question #27

Open RealJoshue108 opened 3 years ago

RealJoshue108 commented 3 years ago

Filed by @jasonjgw : If all of the functionality provided by a natural language interface is available via an alternative interface to the same application, does the natural language component need to satisfy accessibility requirements discussed here if the alternative interface is broadly cross-disability accessible?

For example, the entire functionality could be available in a graphical user interface provided by the application. Is this a policy question that is outside the scope of the present project? Should we take a stance on the matter for purposes of this work? See recent mailing list discussions for different points of view.

This question may be OTBE, as we have a clearer scope now. What do you think? @jasonjgw @JaninaSajka

The scope of the document is how to make the natural language interface accessible, not whether it should be made accessible given the presence of an alternative. So I think we should close this issue as Josh suggests.
