Right, and we still haven't gotten dpub-aria 1.1 published. I'm not sure if we can do another revision under their charter or not, but in any case the work should be taken up by a task force in that group.
Ideally, this would be part of a renewed effort at educational publishing, but is there any appetite for that?

While working on making increasingly complex publications accessible, we've identified a gap in the current semantic markup capabilities for educational and literary content. There are several educational and editorial constructs that, while visually identifiable, lack proper semantic representation in current standards.
This enhancement may be considered within the scope of DPUB ARIA roles or similar specifications.
