One additional feature of VR/360 video is that things can happen behind you. If these are indicated with a sound then there would need to be an alert mechanisms for people with hearing loss that would require synchronisation. I expect that would be covered by whatever signing/subtitling people are using anyway but it may be worth a line saying "Mechanisms for alerting deaf users that action is happening outside their vision (ie behind them) should be synchronised with the action they refer to."
Thank you - let's collect any further XR/immersive environment-specific issues here, then we can add text to the section of the document. Or perhaps this belongs as a note in another section rather than as its own section, if we don't have much more to include.
@Steve-Noble thinks this can be closed
@RealJoshue108 to ping Immersive Captions group to make sure they have seen the issue
If we decide to request a transition to W3C Note status, we should remove the editor's note in the XR section.
Steve's latest changes have vastly improved this section, and it is possible that no further substantive additions are needed, enabling us to close this issue.
Are there synchronization issues specific to XR and immersive environments that should be documented? I have proposed an editorial note to seek public comments on this and associated questions, as was suggested at the 28 July 2021 RQTF meeting.
