FWIW, I am for the single digit version of the URL resolve to most current version. I very much like that http://w3.org/tr/wcag3 takes me exactly where I would expect. It is short enough to say over the phone, even with poor audio, and be reliable.
What I will argue is that it is a significant mistake to have a dash and a extra dot in the official
URL:
https://www.w3.org/TR/wcag-3.0/
Very retrograde. www.w3.org/tr/wcag works, as does www.w3.org/tr/wcag2 but www.w3.org/tr/wcag30 is a 404? Also working: www.w3.org/tr/wcag10 , www.w3.org/tr/wcag20 , www.w3.org/tr/wcag21 , www.w3.org/tr/wcag22

All earlier versions of WCAG have used two numbers in their /TR URL. For example:
It would be good for WCAG3.0 to be consistent. At the moment it uses: https://w3.org/tr/wcag3
