SDG Targets

I've examined the possibility of adding UN SDG support into the specification (at the target level) by going through each one in turn and attempting to determine relevance to digital and the work we are undertaking. As such the results are shown in the below PDF document (goals across the top, targets going down).

• There are a number of gaps and limits to the applicability of digital (I believe this was noted during the drafting of the SDGs).
• There were a few targets that had wide-scoping areas that applied to all guidelines which is useful if we do implement them.
• It is worth noting that the SDGs are also showing their age with some having goal dates that have passed, though I have not included this as the goals still have relevance even without the date.
• Many targets are scoped towards government level rather than individuals, businesses, and corporations which could pose implementation issues.

As such, it is up for debate whether we should include the content within the specification. Feel free to add your thoughts below!

We've discussed this at length and to avoid bulking the specification with additional material at this time its been decided that the SDGs should remain outside of the WSGs due to their age, and scope (focused less on individuals and businesses). This can be addressed at a later period if we choose to include additional reporting metrics but for now I'll close this issue.

As we will be including additional reporting metrics (measurability) and potentially including ISO alongside GRI, it makes sense to re-examine SDGs as another reporting metric to help reinforce the sustainability credentials of guidelines.

The draft specification now has cross-references to UN SDG targets. Rather than including them within Reporting they have been added as cross-links within the appropriate References section to avoid overburdening the spec with too many tie-in's.

All of these links will become available in the main specification with the next draft release.
