Native support for 2D gradients. #786

Specification: SVG Gradients and Patterns

I suggest the ability to natively support 2D gradients without heavy workarounds.

Mesh gradients were initially added to SVG 2. Inkscape implemented support for them. But due to low confidence by browser vendors in their ability to implement it in time, it was deferred from SVG2. They may make it back into the next version of SVG.

I see. But mesh gradients created with InkScape today should be supported by future browsers, I guess.

AFAIK the Inkscape ones follow the proposed standard (that was deferred).
