Thank you for proposing a session!
You may update the session description as needed and at any time before the meeting, but please keep in mind that tooling relies on issue formatting: follow the instructions and leave all headings and other formatting intact in particular. Bots and W3C meeting organizers may also update the description, to fix formatting issues or add links and other relevant information. Please do not revert these changes. Feel free to use comments to raise questions.
Do not expect formal approval; W3C meeting organizers endeavor to schedule all proposed sessions that are in scope for a breakout. Actual scheduling should take place shortly before the meeting.
@iherman @pchampin et al, I'd like to request that attendance to this event ( https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/3492ce36-6f12-4387-9578-162929256742/ ) is possible remotely, i.e., with audio/video, a hybrid event. If approved, can you please update the event calendar with join links.
@csarven All public breakout sessions (such as this one) can be attended remotely. Joining instructions will be added to calendar entries within the next couple of days.
Session description
The mission of the newly created Linked Web Storage Working Group is to enable the development of web applications where data storage, entity authentication, access control, and application providers are all loosely coupled, as opposed to the web of today where these are typically all tightly coupled and changing one requires changing all, sometimes at the price of all past data.
A number of initiatives — such as IndieWeb, Unhosted, and Solid — have emerged to propose alternative models for web applications. They are largely based on existing open web standards, which they extend to give priority to individual and group autonomy.
The goal of the breakout session is to bring together current and potential participants of the Linked Web Storage Working Group, as well as members of other communities with shared interests (such as the ones cited above) to seed a set of use-cases that the working group can later adopt to guide its work.
Live minutes will be taken in https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sFZ0BozoLA3U7iROtu10tR7S05_OEOprS8Um9NZqZYw/edit
