Hi @htInEdin, you can link your GitHub account in the Connected accounts section of your W3C profile. Once that's done there will be a short delay before the change is propagated to GitHub – I believe that's done hourly at xx:30. Unfortunately as far as I can tell it's not possible to customize the 404 response returned by GitHub in such cases.
Thanks, I'll do that, but surely that advice should also be on various Member pages including at least https://www.w3.org/Member/Board/ and the FAQ. To my considerable surprise there appears to be no page linked from the main Member pages to the Board of Directors or W3C Inc.

@htInEdin I've added the instructions to the AB page, as a pop-in next to the link to the member-only AB GH repo.
and the FAQ.
Do you have a particular FAQ in mind?
To my considerable surprise there appears to be no page linked from the main Member pages to the Board of Directors or W3C Inc.
Are you referring to a page with instructions to link your GH account to your W3C account? or were you looking on the main Member pages for a pointer to the Board of Directors or W3C Inc.?
Describe the issue I clicked on this link https://github.com/w3c/AB-memberonly on this page https://www.w3.org/Member/Board/ and got a 404 page from github. How is my member status supposed to be communicated to github?
To reproduce As above
Expected behavior Be asked to authenticate myself as an AC member.
