[!!][Caption Formats] & [!!][Subtitles] Links to specs really early #89

We deliberately have gone great lengths in the earlier tutorials to not introduce road blocks, in the form of links to external resources, early on a tutorial. Both pages start with three links to specifications that do very similar things. You later learn that, as a developer, you can only use one format reliably (WebVTT) across browsers. I think the links can be removed or moved down to the bottom of the page.

I completely understand what you are saying Eric. However, especially on the Caption Formats page, the rest of the page refers to these three formats. If I was reading it, I would want to see that the links defining the spec where there rather than continuing to read and wondering if I am going to need to go and google the spec to find the details. Providing it up front lets the user focus on the content that is following.

No, again, I get what you are saying about WebVTT. Don't know what to do about that part of your concern.

It would probably help to have a brief information on what one format does over the other… It is just like we’d say… If you write a novel, here are formats: Plain Text, RTF, Word, Pages. Without specifying why you’d want to use one over the other.
