WCAG 2.2 support #112

Is this tool going to support WCAG 2.2 when 2.2 releases?

Hi @joshuaboele

We do plan to update the WCAG-EM Report Tool for WCAG 2.2. We're not sure yet on timing. We hope to have it about the same time or soon after WCAG 2.2 is finalized.

( @mhansma96 , we were just talking about this with Eric V yesterday )

Hi @shawna-slh Do you perhaps have an update on the timing?

We actually do have customers that are eager to test their sites for WCAG 2.2 as soon as that is released. We now use the report tool to build our audit reports and prefer not to have to build something ourselves for WCAG 2.2.

Is it possible to add WCAG 2.2 support already (with a disclaimer that it is not yet definitive)? There are now radiobuttons to select the WCAG version ("2.1", "added in 2.1" and "2.0"), so it would be super to already add the options "2.2" and "added in 2.2" and the possibility to write observations on these new success criteria.

I realize a difficulty might be in the descriptions and URLs of the success criteria and the level of success criterion 2.4.7. However, it would be awesome to somehow be able to use the report tool already for WCAG 2.2.

Hi @sander-nl We just updated the planned completion for WCAG 2.2 to "by December 2022". There are still a few tweaks needed before it goes to Candidate Recommendation (CR) (which is described in How WAI Develops Accessibility Standards through the W3C Process.

I have started getting input on your proposal to add 2.2 success criteria before it is finalized. I'm thinking we'll probably wait until after the CR period. I'll let you know. ~Shawn

Any updates about WCAG 2.2? What are the expectations for a new release of the WCAG-EM RT?

FWIW: Here is an old (draft) PR where wcag 2.2 data and translations were added. I think the code there is still very similar to the code in this current repo; https://github.com/w3c/wcag-em-report-tool/pull/409

Hi @BartCardan WCAG 2.2 expected date has been pushed to May. The Accessibility Guidelines Working Group continues to refine it. For up-to-date info, see https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/wcag/new-in-22/

And we do still plan to update WCAG-EM Report Tool as soon as 2.2 is really stable.
