Differences between Mozilla & W3C Thing Description specifications #921

I have started a wiki page to document the remaining differences between the Mozilla and W3C Thing Description specifications. As discussed at the WoT F2F today, this issue is intended to refer to and discuss those differences within the WoT WG, with a view to converging the two specifications over time.

I am hopeful that the work of the Web Thing Protocol Community Group will start to fill in some of the gaps which have so far prevented complete convergence between the two specifications, by defining a concrete (sub-)protocol that developers of greenfield devices can choose to implement in order to to guarantee ad-hoc interoperability between WoT clients and devices.

The WoT Profile specification may also help with this, by defining a mechanism by which developers can denote that a given Thing Description conforms to a constrained set of protocols, such as the proposed Web Thing Protocol.

With the additional features and optional constraints that these developments would bring to the Web of Things Platform, I believe it should be possible for the Mozilla WebThings implementations to migrate to the W3C Thing Description specification, potentially with only minor changes to the Thing Description specification itself.

We will revisit the up to date state later on and this is just a "documentation" issue for now.
