Filed on behalf of RNIB: Original comments sent to APA list

Regarding User Need 5 -Again, extremely important for people with sight loss.

Add REQ 5b: Voice activation should preferably use native screen readers / voice assistants rather than external devices to eliminate the additional step needed to pair devices.

Add REQ 5c: Feedback to the user must be audible or audible feedback must be an option to enable people with sight loss to use the voice interaction (i.e., a voice search feature must not display the results on the screen without an option to have them read out).

Thanks for the suggested requirements - we will discuss this in RQTF.

NOTE: These are possible new requirements.

This is being discussed in RQTF ( issues https://www.w3.org/2020/05/06-rqtf-minutes.html#item03 ) and is interesting as it also indicates other potential user needs and requirement:

This new suggested requirement (5b) - if we examine the user needs - is around addressing the complexity of managing many kinds of AT when using XR. The need is there for XR to support AT in a cohesive manner, or in a combination of AT being used in a coordinated way - whether it’s the users day to day AT, or AT that is embedded in or provided by the XR environment already. So it bring up the question of how they will be coordinated.

This was discussed today in Research Questions Task Force -https://www.w3.org/2020/05/20-rqtf-minutes.html

[UPDATE] This relates to Spatial Audio and the need for this to be mentioned in XAUR/RAUR and supported in specifications like WCAG.

I've added a new requirement and updated note on the need for AT co-ordination at a platform level in immersive environments,
