That is helpful @cdpatnoe we are discussing this now in Research Questions Task Force
This is potentially an interesting requirement that extends the existing WCAG SC 1.4.1 https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/visual-audio-contrast-without-color.html and something to consider in Silver (WCAG 3.0).
This goes beyond immersive XR.
This was discussed by Research Questions Task Force on https://www.w3.org/2020/06/10-rqtf-minutes.html#item02
For reference, from w3c/apa#55: Game Accessibility Guideline on not using colour alone—note the best practice examples at the end.
A best practice is to also use fill textures or different shapes in addition to colors.
