What do folks think would help people understand that this doesn't yet capture any sort of definite path forward?

i think this is good, but my main concern is that whats in master reflects just one of many competing options. What I'm aiming to avoid is any master state that suggests that master reflects PING's current thinking, and too instead emphasize that master is currently a collection of different vendors goals and proposed approaches.

If that sounds okay with you, i'm happy to draft a PR. If getting more PRs merged would also be helpful, please let me know if there are still changes needed, if you'd like me to break existing PR(s) into smaller PRs, or if you'd like me to help out by doing some merging / editing directly myself. Happy to be however i can
