Prepaid Plan / Bill period duration missing #315

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
When switching to "Prepaid Plan", there is no option to set duration of billing
period.

Bill period bar just shows loading status.

I'm using the newest version: RC2

Samsung Spica I5700. Android 2.1

Hi, I think it is easier to explain in German...

-----------------

Hello again, I'm not sure whether you can write in German here? I just want to
explain again what I had intended:

Prepaidplan is active! My first plan is the "Bill Period", i want to set the
first day and also the length of the billing period. Balance should also be set
to 15€ for example.

At the moment there is no possibility to set the length, so as the result you
just see a status bar which is loading all the time.

When i try to set costs (0,09€) for "call out", these costs are not
abstracted to my balance set in "Bill period". Instead i see: (0.09€) + 15€

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
i can, but i need some more time to think about it.
maybe i messed this prepaid thing up, while adding some features to the limit
type "cost".
please be patient.

and:

i just do not know, how you would handle the seconds bill period, with prepaid
plans without setting the balance.

Original comment by felix.bechstein on 12 Nov 2010 at 12:24

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
i'm not sure if i undesrtand your question correctly...

the bill period should only show the balance available for the actual month
(15€/month). Status bar should show how far this period is advanced.

the costs of sms out and call out and data in/out should be abstracted to the
balance set in bill period. For exampe (1 call and 1 sms each 9cent) so Balance
should be 14,82€.

If its ok, i can send you a screenshot with the output i would like to have.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Here's the picture, i edited the billing period with paint. Right now i just
see the summary of the costs. Perfect would be to see the costs abstracted to
my balance like in this picture.

well. i sure do understand how it should look like.

BUT: what should cm do on end of the billing period?
what should happen with not used balance?

Original comment by felix.bechstein on 17 Nov 2010 at 6:15

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
on the end of the billing period i think there should be two options:

1. transfer the balance left to next month
2. just completely restart calculation (minutes/sms/mms/data back to 0) and a
new balance.

Original comment by chr.kri...@gmail.com on 17 Nov 2010 at 7:31

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
ok.

1. will lead us to a bill period with a limit of 15€
2. will lead us to a bill period with a limit of 15€ + rollover of balance.

1. is planed, 2. is addressed in issue #100, but until now, i do not know, how
to handle it.

Original comment by felix.bechstein on 18 Nov 2010 at 6:26

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I need option 2.

When the bill period (ex. 1 month) is reached, the balance has to be restarted
to prepaid cost and the minutes/sms/data start from zero for next billing
period.

This is usual in Argentina (where i'm from), the bill has a fix cost every
month (and the balance is restarted every month).

Thanks Felix for this wonderfull app.

i still do not know, how to handle it.
and currently is no spare time left to think about it.

esp. rolling over balances (issue #100) is not that easy..

Thanks for your quick answer.

Is it posible to add only the option 1 now and leave the rollover of balance
for later?

Original comment by alvarezr...@gmail.com on 12 Jan 2011 at 11:12

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
you could set a limit for outgoging calls/messages with type cost already.
you might need to merge the plans like the preconfigured merging ruleset.
this will lead to a hard reset after eg 1month of your balance.

Hi,
I have a rather complex plan an can't figure out how to describe it in CM3.
I have monthly plan vhere first 200 mins to all networks are free. When these
mins are over I have additional 1000 mins to home network, but pay per minute
for calls to other networks. If I talk out all the free minutes I pay per
minute for home and other networks. The situationis pretty much the same for
SMS and MMS.
Can someone (i guess Felix is busy) give some tips how to describe that plan in
CM3?

from 17.5. on i'll have this issue to. making it a major issue :D

but until now, i got no idea how to handle these prepaid but still periodic
plans.

the problem is, that in cm3 there is nothing like balance.
cm is just summing up cost produced by every log item.

this stops me from fixing this and the roll over issue..

any ideas?

Original comment by f...@ub0r.de on 9 Apr 2011 at 3:54

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
My advice: add an option to prepaid plan to delete the balance every month (or
a custom period) and put a new balance predefined by the user.

You can blank the balance simply adding a log totalling the $ at this moment.

That way we can use prepaid plans with limited period of time for the money
pay. And then, another bill will begin every month.

What do you think?

Felix, I think that Issue 692 has nothing to do with this one :S

Original comment by alvarezr...@gmail.com on 13 May 2012 at 4:23

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
it has:

if you would be able to select 1d bill period, you would be perfectly fine. but
the current prepaid logic prevents that.

Original comment by f...@ub0r.de on 13 May 2012 at 7:43

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Well, I've thought on that solution, but its a bit rare for the scenario
explained on issue 692 (so then I thought that you had choosen the wrong issue
to merge). Of course, I understand that only you by yourself can't make the
best solutions for everybody.

By the way, any news about this issue? :P

Thanks for your answer.

Records should be filtered by date for this purpose and others purposes: like
roaming and free numbers.

So, a rule can match a record between a start date and, an optional, end date.
These dates should come in groups, keep adding dates to the group as far as a
new pack are buy for historical purposes.

numbers _id:5:#:_gid:2:#:_number:3865370710:#:_dgid:4:#:
dates _id:1:#:_gid:1:#:_start:1287927116450:#:_end:1287927116450:#:
dates _id:2:#:_gid:2:#:_start:1287927116450:#:_end:1287927116450:#:
dates _id:3:#:_gid:3:#:_start:1287927116450:#:_end:1287927116450:#:
dates _id:4:#:_gid:4:#:_start:1287927116450:#:_end:1287927116450:#:
datesgroup _id:1:#:_name:30 SMS for 7 days Pack:#:
datesgroup _id:2:#:_name:All weekend free calls for $12:#:
datesgroup _id:3:#:_name:I was roaming:#:
datesgroup _id:4:#:_name:Not always my call-for-free number:#:

I will try not to hijack the thread to explain that a free number can be
changed 4 times in a month with no charge, but is easy to understand that a
same number can be free sometimes an sometimes not. Was free from the day you
let your carrier know, and so should be in CM3.

Something similar happens when you are roaming, CM3 don't know you are roaming,
but you know, so you can add a timespan to "I was roaming" group to let CM3
know ;)

And finally you buy a "pack/bundle" at some date in the past, let CM3 know
adding a timespan across "30 SMS for 7 days Pack" group.

A rule must have a "forever" default.

A plan should show the latest timespan in a group if intended to show "Pack"
progress, or add the "30 SMS" to the current "50 SMS" limit to get a a "70 SMS"
limit as I manually did every time I buy a SMS pack.

Here are some Pack examples:
http://www.movistar.com.ar/planes/control/personaliza-tu-plan/
At the start: Recurring packages: Not a concern
At the end: Eventual packages: Buy Packages with your credit

I'm for:
when prepaid period ends, all unused forfeited,
new period starts with new cost/new value

which is how it works now, EXCEPT, can't set bill period when in prepaid mode

I use the workaround of:
disable 'prepaid', edit bill period, set duration, re-enable 'prepaid'

so, from my POV, I'd like to see ability of entering /editing of plan duration
on both prepaid/not_prepaid

from my POV, if 'bill period' duration was editable when 'prepaid', that would
do

thanks

Hi, you can set the charging per second? When set to the prepaid plan you can
set options on a weekly or monthly!
You can change the app setting for a prepaid plan expenses dovite to the
activation of promotional offers are deducted from the credit? When you set a
rule and select the option to create a target registers to a certain sim
disappears!
