Compatibility with HTC Music app #24

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hi! I have been testing some Unofficial HTC Roms for the Android G1. As I
understand, the HTC Music app is not really related to the default android
application for playing music. I was just curious, do you have any plans at
all to develop a version that's compatible with the HTC Music application?

Well, thanks for all the time and effort you have put in the application till
now, and I really hope you've got some spare time ;)

Thanx :D

hi,
i came here to ask this very question. I'm using a custom rom and it's so good
i wont
be going back, problem is the very nice htc audio app doesn't work with
scrobbledroid. Hope you can work your magic and keep us scrobbling ;)

I'm using an actual HTC hero and I would also love to see scrobble droid work
with
its music player.

I'm also using a real HTC Hero (rebranded by T-Mobile as the G2 Touch), and I'm
dying
to see scrobbledroid work with the HTC music application.

I also have a Hero.
Does anyone know how to run (or download) the 'old' Android music app that
Scrobble
Droid current does work with?

@dave
I was thinking about doing just that yesterday. I previously had a G1 which i
could
push the new htc music at, which then gave me 2 music players, old & new. I
could
then remove the old one and be left with the new htc version.
I'm pretty sure grabbing the music.apk from a standard android build and
pushing it
at the hero will result in the 2 music players side by side.

I might have a go this evening (after asking on xda devs first ;)

@zombiefly
Thanks - let me know how it goes. If it works, where do I get the music.apk and
how do
I push it at the Hero - would the Application Installer in HTC Sync do it, or
just
copy it to the SD Card and click it to launch?

+1 for this - got myself an HTC Hero literally the other day, and was
disappointed to
find that Scrobbledroid wasn't able to recognize the HTC media player. Good to
know
you're looking into it!

@dave I was using adb from the android SDK for the G1, i'm not trying that at
the
moment until i get an answer from xda, don't want to brick the new hero :)

I also flashed my HTC Magic to an unofficial Hero ROM and I really love the new
music
app and I don't want to "fall back". But I would really love support for
Scrobble
Droid (sent you a mail about it). Fix it and also release a donate version ;)

Cheers!

ive decided that pushing the old music app onto hero is a no go, mainly as the
new
htc app is so much better. It is technically possible though.

Can't wait to hear if you get this compatibility issue sorted out. I live in
Germany
and the official Last.fm app isn't available on our Android market place. I
still
want to scrobble though, so definitely need this app on my HTC Hero.

In the meantime I have found that TuneWiki can Scrobble the tracks you play.
I would rather use the HTC Music app due to it having the lock-screen player
controls,
but this is a good intermediate solution

Hello all.

I finally got around to looking into this and the news is good: is looks like
the HTC
Music app is based on the standard Android Music app, and so Scrobble Droid
should be
able to talk to it in the same way. I'll hopefully have a beta ready soon.

...annnnnnd done.

Would anyone mind giving a test before I upload it to the Market?

Thanks.

It looks ok. It caught the songs played with HTC music player, and the upload
to last.fm is also working.
Thank you.

Works great. Made sure it wasn't listed as a running process in task manager,
p/question a track,
opened scrobble droid and it showed a waiting track

+1, just tried the new package on my HTC Hero (Orange UK) and it seemed to
scrobble
songs played using the HTC Music Player without a problem. Thanks!

Hello. On my HTC Hero I was using the basic android music widget (not the HTC
music
widget, see pictures attached) and the scrobbing was not working (the
scrobbledroid
queue was still empty and my last.fm account was not updated). Then i changed
to the
(bigger) HTC music widget and now the scrobbling works.
I am not connected to 3G network, only WiFi.

Is scrobbledroid using the widgets to work ? or Are the widgets leading to two
differents applications (native android music app VS HTC music app)?
