8 months ago Closed by #204 . I don't think there's any remaining low hanging fruit for the search itself, although the user experience could be sped up by caching the species diagrams that are retrieved for the search results, as in #202 .
The search is a core functionality of the site and can be a little slow at times. It's worth looking at the queries to see how they can be optimised, either through combining similar queries (such as combining partial and full matches into the same query) or indexes on the search fields.
