The abstract could also clarify that the model as it's presented is only applicable to dissociative mergers (since it assumes that the impact parameter b~0), although to be fair it could in principle be extended to include more general cases.

Response to the referee:

I adjusted the wording of the abstract to clarify the applicability of the model. I emphasized that the method is for dissociative mergers but did not go into all the qualifying details that the referee suggested. These details are discussed in the body of the article, and I wanted to keep the abstract concise.
