Noisier default notifications for users

@tosfos is there a way to turn on notifications for users? for example, if another user starts a talk/discussion on the paper a curator has worked on.

Usually the way to notify a user is to add a message to their Talk page. We can also make it possible to ping a user from any page. Or did you have something else in mind?

We enabled the Echo extension in 56ff1aef3117fc58ee2a18fa91d9962b03e74293.

It can ping users from pages, but the requirements for it to happened are a bit complex. See this page.

This extension has a number of other useful benefits.

By the way @ftzohra22, click on https://bugsigdb.org/Special:Preferences and select "Notifications" to make sure you are configured to receive emails and are notified about all potentially relevant events.

@tosfos , could you make the default settings for Echo and Watchlist more noisy? Basically maximize the categories of email notifications and automatic watch pages, since I think that neither curators or reviewers are currently noticing changes to pages they are involved in.

If you go to a User page (and you have confirmed your own email address in Preferences) click tools and you should see "Email this user" as an option:
