upstream merge april 2024 #219

About The Pull Request

Pulls in upstream so i can do some sprite work for things which were added upstream since the last time this branch was updated. This touches paintings and paintings seem to be fucked (including the new heretic ones which kill you), however i checked and they were alreayd fucked on stable so i guess i'll fix that in a different PR.

OK I think this should now only be failing CI to the same extent that it was before the merge
