Question for my curiosity #1

Hey this is an awesome project. I currently work at a law firm and am trying to implement something like this but with more layers of complexity added on to it. Just out of curiosity how long did it take you to do this project from start to finish? I want to get a rough estimate of how long a project like this would take. Do you have any tips on how to get started with something like this?
