Did you configure the plugin? Under the Tools > KPSync for Google Drive > Configure" menu.

Are there any logs I can share to debug the issue?

You can't download a database without configuring the plugin, is there a specific configuration option I should check?
I've always had a local copy of the database. Then I configure the plugin and sync to Drive. After the initial configuration and sync, any time I download the database in the future, as long as the plugin is present, I can sync without any additional configuration.
I'm unsure how you would configure the plugin and have it download a database, without first having had a local copy. The configuration information is stored inside of the encrypted database.

I never said I didn't have a local copy, it is impossible to setup the plugin without one so I thought this was implied. I have followed the instructions on https://www.kpsync.org to download and then sync.
Tim,
Just jumping in to help you troubleshoot the problem you are encountering. I replied based on what I understood of what you had written, "... downloaded a database from Drive, and tried to Sync"
If using a local copy is implied, why did you say "downloaded a database from Drive...?" What did you mean by that? I must not be understanding.
thanks,
James

Hi James,
Sorry, it is my first time using this plugin so I have skipped some steps in my explanation thinking they weren't relevant. What I did was try to follow the instructions on both the download (https://www.kpsync.org/usage/dnload) and sync (https://www.kpsync.org/usage/sync) pages, along with the prompts from the plugin.
I closed KeePass and opened it back up a few times and everything appeared to be working ok.
After this, I made a change to my local database and tried to use the Sync option to sync those changes back up to Google Drive. It is here where I encountered the errors in the original post.
After making this post, I tried to sync again and it worked fine, so it appears to be some sort of intermittent or first time error. I don't think my situation would be unique and other people might run into the same error, so if there are logs or anything I can provide to identify the issue that would be great.
Hi @TimSirmovics,
Thanks for reporting this. You provided good information for replicating the problems you experienced. I hope we can figure this out, but also glad to hear you are up and running now.
To answer your question about logging, there is a crude interface for logging some plugin runtime info to a file in v4.1. There is an improved interface in the works to make the facility more accessible. But if anyone else is still having issues and are willing to give it a try, check out the release notes for the 4.0.7 release.
Winforms apps like KP face significant challenges when using inherently asynchronous interfaces such as that provided by the Google APIs used here, so it's good to have reports like this to try and work them out.
I downloaded the plugin for the first time, downloaded a database from Drive, and tried to Sync. When I tried to sync, I got a message box with the message "object reference not set to an instance of an object". In the status bar I get a message "KPSync for Google Drive: Error"
Are there any logs I can share to debug the issue?
