Daily Kanji widget stuck at "Loading", then "Error" #72

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Drag widget onto home screen from the widget drawer
2. Fill in settings or just press OK at settings screen
3. Widget appears on screen but is stuck at "loading"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Instead of seeing a Kanji, it just says "Loading..." and then eventually
"Error"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version 2.3.2 on android jellybean 4.2.2

If possible, provide a stack trace (logcat).

Sorry I tried running logcat but nothing showed up in the logs...

Please provide any additional information below.

The widget has worked for me before, for a long time, but I started getting
these errors last weekend-ish.

Also already tried turning data/wifi on and off, the phone on/off, and
reinstalling the app.

This can happen if the WWWJDIC is down or undergoing maintenance. Does the main
app work? What mirror site are you using (Settings->WWWJDIC Settings->WWWJDIC
mirror)? If 'Mirror auto select' is checked, uncheck it and try a different
mirror site.

The widget started working again shortly before you posted. Thank you! I went
in to the settings and unchecked mirror (it was set to Australia) just in case.

It seems the Australia site was having trouble over the weekend. BTW, whenever
you get a weird error all of a sudden, try changing the mirror site. Most are
temporary and get resolved at the server side eventually.
