sorry,i am confused. is the latest release at the github release latest(dev)or i have to build it via cloning the repo? please reply

As of now, latest binary build is 49 commits behind master. So technically you need to clone and build the repo to get latest code.

However those commits are mostly fixes for the build script, which should have almost no difference if you just want to use Aegisub.
