Mobile app shows NO feedback #1031

Hello WS github. My mobile profile shows NO feedback. I have over 100 feedback on website when logged into browser. This has strongly affected my request rate in 2018 and I miss my riders. I am a big fan, have BEST feedback but since the redesign I am cut off from mobile users. One rider said he "took a chance" when he saw I had no feedback. When he look at the website using a browser he was astonished. Please fix this for me. Hester555 on Warm showers website. Rita Hester

Hi Rita, The Android and Windows mobile apps show your feedback just fine so I don't think this is an issue with the redesign. I did verify that the iOS app doesn't show your feedback. I'm guessing it is choking on a translation problem with the feedback you received from a host on November 2018. @RajanFernandez is the author of that app, hopefully he can take a look. In the meantime you may be able to get past your issue by contacting the host in question (you'll easily recognize the translation problem with his feedback) and asking him to delete his feedback.

Nice work BTW, you've got some impressive feedback! kurt

Let me backpedal a little-- The bad feedback entry could be related to the web site redesign, hard to say. But the iOS app should handle it without choking.

The Mobil apps are no longer supported by WS. Last fall the main site was redesigned to support smartphones. Please use that with your browser.

@jackturner7678 You'll need to somehow tell this to Rita's guest who was apparently using the iOS app. It has a problem with this specific user's feedback, see my previous response. This is a simple bug, in general the mobile apps work fine, and better than the web site for cyclists on tour.

Jackturner and klzig, Klzig "I'm guessing it is choking on a translation problem with the feedback you received from a host on November 2018. " The problem predates the Visit from a Korean cyclist in November. The rider who reported this issue to me was here in early 2018 so I am thinking that may not be the problem. I just didn't report it on Github till a couple of days ago. But I will try and contact @RajanFernandez to see if he can debug the app for me. I am not a code writer, so cannot do anything myself. I did find Github with a little digging, using the WS website and I think that this is a GREAT platform. Thanks for your suggestions.

Jackturner: I will contact my guest and ask hi to delete the feedback in Korean. See if that helps. But I doubt it as the "choking" was happening before he visited.

Many thanks for suggestions. Thanks for response

The WS Board is looking at rewriting the apps but at this point they have many problems and are not being supported by WS.

Hi all, I have had this issue reported once before and the cause was the website API returning inconsistent data after the website upgrade. We chose not to fix the issue in the app firstly since the issue should be fixed server side and the database sanitized, and secondly because WS announced that the API would no longer be supported. When the board decides what direction the apps are going in we should address this issue.

Hello Rajan and all, Thank you Rajan. I am so sorry to hear that this issue cannot be fixed for iphone. I do miss hearing from many riders, as I have had so many requests in the past from iphone user/riders, and really miss having as many visitors and hosting them.

TO WS :Is there a chance that WS could send out another message advising iOS users that using the app is not as thorough as using a browser in their iphone? I completely understand that this is only affecting a small number of hosts and riders. THANKS to all who have responded and suggested possible work-arounds.

I will be leaving this thread open, in case some other WS iOS users find the github and let us know that it is affecting them. I do not require any response to this post and hope that some solution will be found in the future. Happy New Year, Rita Hester Hester555

Really said that their is no support for WSandroid app by officials from Warmshower. Moreover now that WSandroid is available through F-droid, making you independent of Google Services to search and host and get hosted.

I beg to the Warmshower officials that they work together with WSandroid developers community to let Warmshower grow in future.

The Web application is nice to have as backup, but a native app is just better and in combination with offline maps practical in field.
