implement rectangular region mouse selecting when the Option key is held down #1244

Describe the solution you'd like?

In Apple's Terminal.app, when holding down the Option key, the mouse cursor turns into crosshairs (or a plus sign if that's how you want to think of it), and click-and-drag with the mouse then will select a rectangular region of text rather than the typical line-oriented text selection behavior. This behavior is what I'm requesting.
