Hi @dannyyy Thanks for submitting this.
My guess is that you normally have a custom prompt, theme, or plugin and Warp is unable to parse it.
You can check whether it’s something in your dotfiles by setting up clean configs:
Run echo 'ZDOTDIR=/' > ~/.zshenv
This forces Zsh to run with zero configs.
if you find this fixes the issue, then you can disable the parts of your dotfiles breaking the input just for Warp by using this conditional statement:
if [[ $TERM_PROGRAM != "WarpTerminal" ]]; then
# > What you want to disable here <
fi
We have a list of incompatible tools here: https://docs.warp.dev/help/known-issues#list-of-incompatible-tools And more info on custom prompts here: https://docs.warp.dev/features/prompt
I found out as soon as I source Spaceship in my ~/.zshrc
that something goes wrong. But only in Warp. iTerm and Terminal are not affected.
May you see from the config what potentially could go wrong. Otherwise, I have to comment out line by line and try it out.

Hey @dannyyy, if you set SPACESHIP_PROMPT_ASYNC=0
, does that fix the issue? (There are some known compatibility issues with async prompts.
With this option set, Warp is able to work. But then I don't get my customized prompt in Warp. In Terminal, it's still customized but just not async anymore.
@dannyyy In Settings > Features, make sure "Honor user's custom prompt (PS1)" is enabled; that should lead to you seeing your customized prompt (as opposed to Warp's default one).
Nice, seems to work. Thank you!

Describe the bug
Warp is not able to execute anything. The prompt will be displayed correctly as defined in zsh and any other terminal I use. But every command entered end in a
zsh: permission denied: /Users/myusername
.Doesn't matter what commend. It could be
ls
orasdfghjk
. It's happening since the first start of Warp. Even restarting the application or MacOS doesn't help.To Reproduce
brew install --cask warp
Expected behaviour
Behaving like a regular terminal.
