[Linux] Warp freezes on startup #4807

Describe the bug

Since a recent update, when I start Warp, it loads the previous state (1 workspace, 3 tabs) and freezes.

The process does not respond anymore. After a few minutes, I killed it.

It was an update released last week. Today I had another update (v0.2024.04.16.08.02.stable_01) but it didn't solve the issue.

Hello! I have the same issue after updating Warp terminal

I have this happening too after updating today. I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 using X11 rather than wayland.

I'm using MX Linux. After being updated today, Warp is broken. When I start the program, it is not showing a window.

@meatballs Does a window open at all for you? Are you using a VM? It's interesting that there's only a CPU adapter (no discrete or integrated GPU) that's listed within the logs.

actually, a window does open. I hadn't noticed previously because it's transparent but I can now see its border

I'd like to separate them to avoid any confusion there.

For my part, it also makes it slow and I have to kill the process, it causes the RAM memory consumption to skyrocket to almost 18GB, when normally my machine does not go up to more than 10GB.

For everyone who is reporting that Warp starts successfully but doesn't show any windows or doesn't render window contents - can you try running Warp with WGPU_BACKENDS=gl warp-terminal and let us know if that resolves the issue?

Hey everyone, we just pushed a new release that should fix these issues with windows not opening. You should see the issues resolved if you update to the latest version via the normal update flow.

Thanks and apologies again for the issues today. We consider regressions like this unacceptable and will internally work on a postmortem to prevent something like this from happening again.

@mepadron Could you try the latest version of Warp and see if this issue still occurs? If so, could you attach the full logs from the latest version so we can debug further?
