Does not allow creating of overnight tasks #8

Open warrencxw opened 2 years ago

warrencxw commented 2 years ago

Students tend to spend a large portion of their midnight hours doing work. However, the application does not allow hours past midnight, as per the following command: add OvernightTask /do 16/04/2022 /start 23:00 /end 02:00

This hinders the usability of this application greatly as the target audience may have trouble using this application.

Team's Response

The current version indeed does not support tasks that span overnight. This was considered during development and because there is a workaround (create a task from 11pm-12am and another that goes from 12am to 2am), the team felt that this was not a priority and thus was not implemented in v2.1.

 Issue response

Team chose [response.NotInScope]

Reason for disagreement: Tasks that span overnight is an important feature especially when put into context the target audience of the application, students (according to UG) from CEG and SOC (according to DG). These students are known to have late night study sessions, which with this missing feature, would drastically affect the ability of the application to cater to the said target audience.

According to the module website, this bug would be considered NotInScope if rectifying it is less important than the work already put in. However, if not catering to a large portion of the target audience counts as unimportant to the team, this bug report can be considered NotInScope, and please ignore what has been written in this response.

I understand that this issue is recognised by the team during development and a workaround has been found. However, the argument by the team would have been much more reasonable if said workaround was posted in the user guide to assist the users.
