Add list-name to Default List description #130

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
As part of the Description field for Default Lists in the List Manager
window, we should include the "name" of the list. For example, "P2P:
Anti-P2P organizations (Bluetack Level-1).

Suggestion made by user JRF in our forums:

Marking as low priority, as the program is still running correctly without
this change. Would increase usability though, so is definitely a good idea.

Seriously considering rejecting this issue, as adding that text to the Default
List
descriptions adds additional clutter to the UI without adding all that much
value.

The reason for the change-request was originally to prevent user confusion when
adding a list that's being managed by the Default Lists. We're currently
implementing "sanity checking" of newly-added lists, such that we will pop up a
window describing various bad/confusing things that could have occurred: adding
a
list that's already been added, adding a "known bad" URL like the
iblocklist.com List
Description, adding a pre-existing list by a different name . . . and adding a
list
that corresponds to the Default Lists. In addition to notifying the user that a
problem was detected, we will offer to fix it for them.

I think this change (Issue #115, Issue #225) will be a better resolution to the
original problem tracked by this issue. If you disagree, please share your
thoughts!

Closing this issue as WontFix. I believe the Issue #114 / Issue #225 fixes
take care
of the root cause of this problem in a much better fashion.
