Attempting to finalize a purchase on iTunes fails when PeerBlock is running. #243

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Run PeerBlock with all lists
2.Go to the iTunes store, click to buy anything
3.Put in password, fails.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to be able to use iTunes, browsing the store is possible, just not
purchasing.

What version of PeerBlock are you using? On what operating system? 32- or
64-bit?
v1.0 64-bit, though I suspect it is a strange list.

Please provide any additional information below. Make sure to attach
peerblock.log and/or any screenshots that would help explain your problem.

You're right, it's probably something on one of your lists . . . which means
there
isn't a whole heck of a lot we can do about it. When you encounter this error,
do
you see any interesting blocks show up in the PeerBlock UI?

Workarounds might include Allowing HTTP (or, um, not Blocking HTTP in the 1.0
systray
menu terminology) temporarily while ordering through iTunes, or setting up the
Apple
list available on iblocklist.com
(http://iblocklist.com/list.php?list=aphcqvpxuqgrkgufjruj) as an Allow List.

If you have a chance to try out some of this stuff, please let us know how it
turns
out!

If none of that works though, it's possible that there is a bug in PeerBlock
that's
causing it - please post a copy of your peerblock.log, and peerblock.conf,
along with
a dump of your history file (View History, File -> Export To...; From/To should
be
just the current day, Action should be Blocked) and a note as to what time of
the day
you attempted to make your purchase.

Adding the Apple list as an Allow List seems to do the trick. PeerBlock still
blocks
"Archer Communications 66.235.132.121" but that does not seem to have an effect
at all.

Initially, PeerBlock was blocking an Apple IP that I didn't catch the first
time around.

Great, glad to hear it!

Closing this bug since PeerBlock is working as expected. Hopefully the next
person
to come along will find it while searching and see the "fix".
