Silent update

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.start-up
2.update box comes up, updates, etc
3.close timer counts down, or i click close.
4.shows how fast the list cache is being generated using a progress bar. 

What is the preferred user interaction? What would you see instead?

I suggest that a  Silent-update option be implemented that could be 
triggered on and off in the settings.(The same way "start hidden" is 
implemented.)
A "silent-update" would involve no update box popping-up, and preferably no 
generating list cache progress bar. In the event of a completed silent-
update a notification above the task tray icon might popup saying

eg.
-----------------------------------
Update(s) successful:
Ads - updated
spyware - updated
educational - N/A
-----------------------------------

or eg.
-----------------------------------
Update failed:
URL could not be retrieved, 
click here to try again
-----------------------------------

naturally the update box should appear if I click check for updates. as in that 
case i 
am already engaging the program. This enhancement is targeted for people who 
start peer-block with windows
