Volume Control UI #14

We already decided on using push buttons for controlling volume. One for volume up, one for volume down. We should start to think about how we want to integrate this into our case design (which we also still need to do). Any bright ideas?

Following your philosophy of minimizing moving parts, how about capacitive touch sensors? E.g., https://www.adafruit.com/product/1362. We could use something as simple as screwheads as the touch interface (though i'd prefer something prettier).

I also thought about touch, it would be elegant for sure. Maybe some nicely finished and inset stainless steel bolts. However, i am unsure how well touch works for little kids. I could imagine that haptic feedback might be really useful. What do you think?

Have you got an old rumble gamepad lying around perhaps? Best of both worlds 8)

But seriously, you've got a point there. Some very sturdy rubber some would be child-friendly?

I was thinking about vibration as well... might be interesting post MVP. I also briefly thought about mild electric shocks, but i somehow think this won't fly :imp: Originally i thought about a regular super cheap push button with some wooden actuator on top that's held in place with some tape or a rubber gasket.
