LastPass "Trust this computer for 30 days." breaks when updating Wavebox #975

Open redfellow opened 5 years ago

Expected LastPass actually trusts the PC for 30 days, even when installing updates to Wavebox

Actual LastPass prompts for Multifactor Authentication after each Wavebox update

Steps to reproduce Log in to LastPass Wait for Wavebox to ask to install update, hit yes Wait for Wavebox to restart See LastPass prompt

Additional info I am using Google Authenticator Multifactor Authentication with LastPass

Hi, which Operating System are you using, macOS or Windows?

redfellow commented 5 years ago

Hi, sorry for omitting that detail. Windows 10 N. Also, about my LastPass settings, I have both of the "Automatically Log out" options unticked. I don't actually need to re-enter LastPass password after update, it's just the Multifactor Authentication that's prompted as a popup.

Thanks, I've just given the same setup here a try upgrading from 4.7.3 - 4.8.2 and it kept me logged in, didn't prompt a password or authenticator code.

I pretty much signed in and updated right away so I wonder if it's down to that. What was the time difference between you signing in and then updating? e.g. a day, week, etc...

redfellow commented 5 years ago

Wavebox just updated and I didn't get prompted either 🤔 I'll note down the time I last authed (yesterday) and reply back here once I can more reliably reproduce the issue. Past month I've re-authed half a dozen times so something going on definitely.

Okay, thanks. I wonder if there's some additional metrics LastPass uses to log you off - for example, if the browser UserAgent changes or if the extension isn't interacted with for a while and then something changes... just guessing :-/.

Let me know when it happens again - there will probably be another patch release next week so prime time to test it :)
