I have several Android devices and several Chromecast devices. I get this exact
behaviour on all of them.
Normal flat LAN setup with NAT to the Internet and no firewalls

I have the same issue, but normally can't play the first video unless I start
playing it before hitting the chromecast icon. It will send the video and play
fine in the TV, my Android phone just spin "connecting" until the video is
over, then declares "problem connecting to the chromecast."
My ios device, I hate to say, works perfectly fine. Is this an uncommon
problem??

How can we get this issue acknowledged?
YouTube is really the only app I use for Chromecast as hulu and Netflix isn't
available in South Africa.
I am also exclusively on Android, and as I mentioned this happens on all my
Android devices and both my Chromecast devices.
Ironically, my friend's iPhone works without any problems.

Thank you for your support of Chromecast. We've just released a major update
to the Google Cast SDK and will be closing your issue.
Take a look at http://googledevelopers.blogspot.com/ for more information.

Can you confirm that the issue is resolved now?

Since this is a YouTube related issue, you need to follow up with YouTube.

How are we so sure it's a YouTube issue? This issue has been sitting here since
October with no official response, now a new sdk is released and all issues in
the queue are simply moments closed?

This is a place for opening issues for Chromecast SDK and the issue you are
referring to is not an SDK issue; as such, it will not be addressed here. I
agree that it should have been closed earlier.
