Microsoft released a new package which is a combination of MemoryCache and DistributedCache. They intend to push this package insatead of memory/distributed cache in the goal to unify

The feature is very nice and simple but the preview 9 is not worth it. It degrade performance by a lot compared to memory cache. Waiting the release it is better
