The "Check for updates" dialog freezes my Mac for a few seconds #3565

Hi, thank you for this great application!

I've noticed a small bug (at least I think it's a bug). Here is how to reproduce it:

  1. Open BetterDisplay
  2. Go to "Application" menu
  3. Click on the "Check for Updates" button. A dialog is shown.
  4. Now quickly click on the "OK" button and notice that nothing happens.

I have to wait a few seconds to be able to click on the "OK" button to close the dialog.

This is not just related to "OK" button on that dialog: once the dialog opens, any click around the screen is not registered (on Safari, on the Desktop, on Control Center, etc.).

I have a Mac Studio M2 Max, and I'm using a DELL U4025QW as my monitor.

Thank you in advance on any help provided!

Hi there - yes, I observed this issue - however not entirely sure why it happens and have no control over it (Sparkle is a general update framework used by most non-appstore Mac apps), so for now we have to live with this. 😞

I added this to the known issue list.
