Updating the gems fixed a build issue with one of the dependent gems during a bundle install
Updating the RSpec matchers fixes those tests from failing when using the latest rspec
Updating Ruby version to latest stable version because why not

Regarding the style violations brought up by Hound, should I ignore them since the rest of the codebase doesn't follow them or go ahead and make those changes?
