Website is down and unable to clone? is this project still going or is it 
defunct?

Can this project be marked as such then or archived? so that people like myself 
don't waste time looking for 
something which no longer exists...

The original author is no longer maintaining it, but I have an updated version 
based upon Peeter Vois's 
modifications that should work with the latest git command line updates. I have 
it sitting at 
http://github.com/josegonzalez/git-php
