When I looked at my local forecast recently, there was a 20 percent chance of rain and snow for Friday, and this was reflected on the legacy forecast.weather.gov page, but on beta.weather.gov, it showed a plain snow icon with just the word "Snow" vs. indication of mixed precipitation. I don't know if the API is just showing one precipitation type or two.
Considerations
Will this nuance misinform, mislead, or confuse people?
What is the role of daily vs. hourly? Should daily have this nuance? Does simplifying it cause confusion when reviewing hourly?
We will need a definitive list of icons from the API. We've already mapped the icons we know about to NOAA icons and text descriptions, but we need to be sure we have them all.
Acceptance criteria
When there are two precipitation types in the forecast, we'll have an icon that reflects that...and the wording will reflect that, and these will display on beta.weather.gov.
[ ] We have a list of all the single-condition icons we should expect from the API
[ ] We have put those conditions into a priority order
[ ] Tests have been implemented or modified to capture the bug
